Christmas Day is my personal favorite as it brings my fabulous family and friends together to enjoy a jointly prepared meal, play games and make many memories. One of our family traditions is “The Christmas Pickle”, a tradition we inherited when husband served in the US Army and my family lived in Heidelberg Germany. Here is a quick link to what this tradition is, as ok I admit it sound very strange!

Last Thanksgiving, I had to share my children! with the families of their significant others! Let me tell you that was not an easy thing to do! This was a first for me and my husband, so after watching the Detroit Lions (inherited this team by marriage) lose to whoever they were playing, and eating a smaller version of Thanksgiving Day Diner I decided to go to sleep early so I could venture out into the world of “Black Friday”!
I must admit I had a blast!!!!
My first stop was Target at 2am, armed with my list I was in and out in two hours! As a self-professed people watcher the hour in line wasn’t that bad. I had two more stops on my list and thought OK I will stop and grab a quick bite and COFFEE for energy. As I drove down a fairly busy main road I noticed lights at the usual choices weren’t open, driving a further still nothing looked open! A little further down the road I noticed a beautifully inviting lite sign and immediately pulled in for my nutrition!! When I spoke to the cashier at the Drive Thru I asked them how busy were and how strange nothing else was open! She replied oh they are open, if you look closely in the windows you can see the lobby light on .. they just forgot to turn their lights on!
